Services Schedule
At Easter, Christians celebrate Christ’s victory over death; it is the most important Christian feast. The liturgy centers on the Easter Triduum, that is, the three days spanning from Thursday evening to Resurrection Sunday. On Thursday evening, we commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples. During this liturgy, the foot-washing ceremony takes place, as described in the Gospel of John, which is meant to illustrate the meaning of Jesus’ mission as one of loving service. Friday is the commemoration of the crucifixion. During the liturgy, we read the Passion according to John, touch the cross, and pray for the whole world. Saturday, the day of Christ’s repose in the tomb — all is silent; no liturgy is celebrated. After sunset, Sunday begins, and with it the celebration of the Resurrection. In our church, we celebrate the Easter Vigil, the main service on Sunday at 4:30 a.m., before dawn. It has four parts: the ceremony of light, the liturgy of the word with seven Old Testament readings, the baptismal service, and the Eucharistic celebration. You are cordially invited to participate.
